I really can't believe it has been like 2 months since I posted last!! I remember (about a month ago) thinking "I really need to update the blog, but we have so many things going on in the next few weeks, I will just wait". And wait I did. So let's do I quick catch up on the last few months, it feels like they have been packed! We had Halloween. Claire dressed up as a butterfly and Charlotte was a cow. Mac's work gets really into Halloween so he always does something really extravagant, so he constructed a larger than life Batman Pez dispenser. We go mostly rained out of trick or treating, but honestly it was fun anyway. Claire is really starting to enjoy the holidays, so seeing them get excited about stuff really makes it all worth it
We also have been doing a remodel in our basement. Nothing too major, but probably note worthy. The biggest change is probably our den/computer room. We changed the flooring, tile around the fire place, and painted everything. We also painted two of the three bedrooms the hallway and bathroom down here, and changed out the carpet in two of the rooms. It is nice to have it done and even more nice to have my brother and sister in law staying with us for a while to enjoy all the projects! :-
I guess our biggest new of the last few months would have to be Charlotte spending a week in the PICU at Primary Children's Medical Center. The week before Thanksgiving Charlotte came down with a cold. Nothing major, we were not even worried. However, Sunday night she woke up and seemed to be breathing a little funny so I called the doctor and he recommended I take her to the emergency room. So I did, and they did some breathing treatments but didn't seem too concerned so they sent us home. By the time she woke up the next morning she had gotten significantly worst, so I immediately took her into the pediatrician. They reassured me that this happens a lot and I shouldn't be concerned but that she needed to be taken to the hospital for some observation. We then took an ambulance to Riverton Hospital at which point she had already gotten much worst. By the time we got there she had gotten bad enough they were not able to treat her and she was then life flighted to Primary's. At this point I was a wreck. She had been poked and prodded and had a tube stuck down her throat and was now getting on a helicopter alone. But the very great people at PCMC were awesome and took great care of her! She had to stay intabated until Wednesday, but still continued to improve. Mac or myself stayed with her at all times, but also tried to make sure we didn't neglect Claire who was at home with various family members. I think Claire probably loved it since she got lots of extra treats and was an only child again for a week. :-) But she missed her sister and was sure to say lots of extra prayers for her! In the end, it turned out she had something called paraflu, which kids get all the time. However, in about 2% it presents more serious. Lucky us. So paraflu which turned into croup, which caused pulmonary edema, and a partially collapsed lung. Long story short, she is doing great now and was able to be home in time for Thanksgiving, which she totally enjoyed, and is back to her happy smiling self again!! Thanks everyone who helped out and for everyone's prayers, it was a very scary week!
I finally got to hold her again on Tuesday!
This is super gross, but Mac wanted me to show all the crap they got out of her lungs.
Right after they took her tube out.
Starting to show a little personality again
The nurses are so funny! They put a little bow on her IV!
Finally a little smile! And have you ever seen a hospital robe so small and cute!?
