Camping, sort of

This weekend our stake had a campout. Thinking that would be a fun family outing, we decided to go. Well, I am not so sure about the fun part, but yes it certainly was a family outing. Our kids go to bed freakishly early (like 7 or 7:30) so I knew it could be a rough night. We got up there, set up "camp" and all Claire wanted to do was to sleep (or pretend to sleep) in the tent.

"sleeping" and trying to get Charlotte to do the same.

So I had pre made our tinfoil dinners and after setting up camp, we lit a fire and cooked them.

Notice she is sticking her thumb out? Yep, she burned it. She freaked out so much we had to take her back to the tent cause people thought we were abusing her. As to give people even more reason to think we were beating her...
Doesn't it look like we are having fun?

Charlotte was getting pretty fussy about then so I took her back to the tent to go to sleep (about 8ish).
See.

This is what Claire was doing until about 10:30.

Mac still smiling, what a trooper.

Anywho, our night was cold and uncomfortable (I don't remember not liking sleeping on the ground as a kid...) and started nice and early (6:30) and unfortunatly Claire does not have a "please be considerate of others, it's 6:30 am" voice, so everyone else in the stake had an early morning as well. Breakfast was at 8:30, we were gone by 7:15 and back in bed by 8. Camping- 1, McCann's- 0. We will see you again next year.

The Arm Breaker

Just to clarify, this post does not end with a trip to the ER. That is just what I am calling my sisters new trampoline "the arm breaker". Sometime in the coming months/years someone will break their arm. As I would rather not witness the actual breaking moment I was inside while all this was going on, so thank you to my niece Rachel for taking all the pictures. I think she captured the moment pretty perfectly.

Trevor getting some air. This may be the only picture that shows anyone actually jumping.

Crazy static hair.

Wow, she must be running fast.

Even crazier static hair.

Must be having fun.

I am not sure Trevor is into this, but he seems to be tolerating her.

Rachel, the nutty photographer.

Trevor is getting bored.

Yep, for sure bored now.

This pretty much sums it all up. Have to give Trev credit for this picture.

Oh and you may notice that Charlotte is not really in this post. She was reading about this thing called "shaken baby" and thought that trampolines qualified. Plus, jumping is not really her thing. Here is a picture to portray her feelings on the matter.

Tutu's and Crafts

Claire's and Charlotte's Aunt Anna came over to play with us today and she brought presents!! It never really crossed my mind that little girls like to dress up. (derf) It's been a while since I was one so I guess I forgot or whatever. Anywho, she brought a fun ladybug tutu with wings and Claire loved it! Loved it so much it worked as a wonderful bribe for her to take a nap. Me: "You can wear your wings again when you wake up" Claire: (in a sobbing voice) "Ok Mommy, wear it when I wake up". Good times, I should have thought of this months ago!
Also, since we have been sick the last few days and have had a bit of TV overload, I decided that it was craft day! When I say craft I mean pulling out the paper cutter and making a paper chain. I don't really have other craft supplies so it was the best I could do. It was still only sort of successful. However, it did occupy the time it was intended to, so good times all around I guess. Here are some pictures to prove the slightly dull story...

Smiling cause Claire finally vacated her personal space bubble.

Having so much fun that hitting seemed like the best thing to do.

Crafts aren't really her thing.

Yep, holding a stapler and eating paper. I am such a good Mom.

This was about as into it as she got.

Charlotte didn't get a present, but that drool mark is from a Tic Tac Aunt Anna gave her.

I can't remember if she was trying to comfort her or if she was just about to cry because of her...

The tutu was totally a success!

Either I just caught her with her eyes closed or she was imagining herself as a real ladybug. Either way....

Before I did her hair, but that is the mirror she was gazing into for a whole 5 minutes after she put the tutu on. Seriously.

Cause I don't have anything else to say...

Here are some of our more recent pictures...

I would say Charlotte was enjoying her bouncer, but she never gets a minute alone.

Claire sitting watching the fireworks with her cousins.

Apparently they were pretty impressive.

Nutty dog trying to attack the fireworks.

4th of July! Don't we all look super nerdy in our matching shirts?

Nothing like some corn on the cob for the 4th!

She does some weird things when we are not paying attention.

Thinking crawling sucks.

But sitting up is ok.

I have no idea where she got those from.

Awe!

Ready for church.

First day of swimming lessons!

So we went on a "hike" not too long ago around Silver Lake up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Yep, we have backpacks of water and everything. Claire walked the whole time (not that walking on a flat boardwalk is Everest or anything but...) and Charlotte fell asleep. Good family time. And hey, a moose.

Hypocrisy...

Ok, I know. This is all very hypocritical. I am not a big fan of blogs (no offense, people have very cute blogs) but it is starting to be how people stay in touch. Mac's family live far away, my parents are planning on another mission, friends are starting to move all over the place, and lets just face it, my kids are freaking cute. So whatever, look at my pictures and enjoy some sarcastic comments. Oh and I am a terrible speller, so try not to judge me too harshly.
